Storytellers of Canada – Conteurs du Canada Conference – Halifax 2025

Cindy is co-chairing this national storytelling conference being held at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax from June 18-22, 2025.

Cindy will be telling stories and singing at the events particularly at the Story Swaps and the Traditional Song Swap.

The entire conference is full of stories, workshops, networking opportunities and a chance to hear storytellers both local and from across the country. All are welcome: listeners and tellers, and those wanting to learn more about storytelling. Atlantic Canada has a strong tradition in storytelling so come hear what we have been telling about for centuries.

There will be some free storytelling events which do not require registration.

  • Tales and Rhymes for Families (preschool-7 years) – Hosted by Cindy Campbell-Stone (NS)
  • Wonder Tales (for 8 years and up) – Hosted by Elinor Benjamin (NS)
  • Introduction to Storytelling Workshop – By Christine Hennebury (Nfld)
  • Public Concert at Central Library – hosted by Cindy Campbell-Stone and Sylvi Belleau (Que), with performances by various local storytellers and musicians from Mi’kmaq, Acadian, African Nova Scotia, Celtic/Gaelic backgrounds: Robert Sewell, Clara Dugas, Robert Deveaux, Florence West Franks, David Woods, and Margo Carruthers.

Early Bird Registration is on from March 20 to April 30. After May 1, prices go up for the full conference or day passes become available. Register now for the best selection of workshops, etc..
