Lady in the Lighthouse: The Catherine Gallagher Story

Presented by storyteller and singer, Cindy Campbell-Stone

In a lighthouse at Chebucto Head near the mouth of Halifax Harbour, lived a woman, Catherine Gallagher. A former teacher, she was ready to settle down and raise a family when a house fire, an explosion and two world wars turned her life upside-down. Catherine, also known as Mrs Edward Gallagher, was one of the main informants for folklorist, Dr. Helen Creighton. This show contains various stories from her life and eight of the forty songs that she sang for Helen. Catherine grew up in Enfield. Her father was Donald Scott and her mother was Sophia Horne. Edmond Henry Horne was Catherine’s cousin.

There will be a Q & A afterwards.

This show is a fundraiser for EH Horne Community Centre, Enfield
